A Letter From the President

First of all, I'd like to announce the results of the election. Dan Harmeyer and Dave Przyborski were elected to the Board of Directors, and I was reelected. Congratulations to Dan and Dave, and thank you to everyone who voted. New positions for each board member will be determined by the next meeting. We will announce the positions on the web site and in the next newsletter.

Next, we have had several more incidents of theft in the community, and are moving on to the next step in the Neighborhood Watch. We now have points of contact for many of our courts and streets. Very soon we will be asking them to make their contact information known to the people on their respective streets. The goal is for each court and street to have a point of contact where residents can report incidents to the community, as well as learn about other incidents. We will have, in effect, a communication tree. If you haven't heard from a representative from your court by the end of February, let Kathy Michels ( schoaext@shipleyschoice.com ) or myself ( schoapres@shipleyschoice.com ) know. At this point, we need volunteers to be points of contact for the following streets.

Cool Glade

Longthorn

Merton Woods

Fox Den (West of Rustling Oaks)

Red Birch (East of Rustling Oaks)

Greenstone

Stacy Oak

Kirkwood

Rock Elm

Braeburn Glen

Briarwick

Rustling Oaks (East of Governor Stone, South of Overcup)

Arbor Oaks

Windfern

Green Aspen

Cool Ridge

Saddleback

Nightingale

If you'd like to be a point of contact, please let myself or Kathy Michels know. If you are already a point of contact we'll be explaining in more detail what we are hoping to accomplish soon.

The Homeowner's Association is working with the CAC and Greater Severna Park Council to address the concerns we have about the speed, traffic type, and school crossing on East-West Highway. There are several things we need to do. First, on the issue of noise, especially the manhole covers that crash loudly when trucks go by, the county engineer would like specific locations of these noises. If you have specific spots please let me know, and I'll get you the correct county contact information. Even more importantly, if at any time, there is no crossing guard when one is expected, please immediately call (410) 222-8573 or 8576. This is the police number for the section that oversees the crossing guards. If they know as soon as possible they can get coverage. I can provide more detailed information if any one would like, just contact me, and I'll send it to you.

Thanks,

Erik Norrholm
